The application of solar energy is growing rapidly worldwide. Solarplaza is a global solar news platform and leading organizer of high-level conferences and trade missions in this industry. We are looking for a hands-on and highly motivated designer to join our team. This is a marvelous opportunity for an ambitious, flexible starter or more experienced professional to join a dynamic, international company on a mission.

Your role and everyday tasks
The Graphic & Web Designer will mainly be responsible for the creation of event-related materials and the layout of our original content publications. In addition, you will help out updating our event websites and ideally helping out with our email marketing using your HTML/CSS skills. As part of the Design team, you will contribute actively to the company’s global Marketing & Editorial campaigns.

Daily tasks will include:

  • Graphic design - digital: Designing visuals, infographics and web-banners for our websites, social posts, emails and newsletters worldwide. Your contributions will literally be seen across the globe.

  • Graphic design - layout: Solarplaza’s content team produces original content sharing our insight with our global network. Making sure the knowledge comes across in an attractive style, you will create a matching layout before the publications get distributed.

  • Graphic design - events: Creating and updating layouts for printed materials such as roll-up banners, backdrops and event brochures, which will be seen by or in the hands of hundreds of conference attendees and professionals.

  • Web design: Updating various websites with new event-related content, such as additions to the program, speaker line-up or additional practical information.

  • Email marketing: Involved in creating marketing emails using HTML/CSS.

 Key Characteristics and Challenges:

  • Quick learner. You are a fast learner and can pick up tasks and new responsibilities quickly and with enthusiasm. Sure you will be guided, but you don’t mind finding your own way to reach the final result on time.
  • Communicative Teamplayer. You’ll work in close collaboration with three other designers and another 30+ colleagues. They will count on your support and you’ll need to work together in a coordinated fashion to manage the work coming in as a team. Communication is key to get things done and keep your team informed.
  • Punctual and secure. Being able to keep the overview of the various tasks, setting priorities and work with the right attention for details is important.
  • Creative. Although we have developed and defined a certain style and brand, the creation of materials intended for audiences all around the world, often in different languages and with different messages, requires a great deal of creativity and ingenuity.
  • International environment: You enjoy working with internationals, feel natural in using English as a primary language of communication with our office.

  • Available for at least four days a week, starting January or sooner
  • Living in - or near - Rotterdam
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (like InDesign, Illustrator or Photoshop)
  • Experience with working with web-platforms such as Squarespace or Wordpress
  • Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS
